Cuevr or Word: which one should you choose for your sales proposals?

Word is the word processor where you write, annotate and hand over an editable file. Cuevr takes the proposal from the deal to the signature: it qualifies, writes with Cuevr AI, scores the proposal before sending, tracks every reader and gets it signed. We compare one use only: the proposal or technical response sent to a prospect.

Criterion by criterion

The verdict

Choose based on what your buyer expects.

Choose Word if…

The file the buyer annotates and reuses

  • Your buyer requires an editable file: a technical response template to complete, a text to rework on their side.
  • You negotiate the text with the client, with tracked changes and comments.
  • You write as a team in the same file, and your team already has Microsoft 365.
  • You send few proposals, and how the client reads them does not factor into your follow-up decision.

Less suited if

you want to qualify the deal before writing, know before sending whether the proposal convinces, know which section the prospect read and when to follow up, or get it signed with no setup or pay-per-use cost.

Choose Cuevr if…

The proposal that gets signed, from deal to signature

  • Every proposal is written for one client and has to convince several decision makers.
  • You want to qualify the deal, then have Cuevr AI write from the qualification, your knowledge base and specialized agents designed on the best sales methods.
  • You want to know before sending whether it convinces, then who reads it, which section, and when to follow up; signature included.
  • You answer RFPs and tenders, public and private, within the buyer’s framework.

Less suited if

the buyer requires an editable Word file (Cuevr publishes a web page and exports to PDF), or if you need comments in the proposal, a product catalog or online payment.

If you remember one thing

Word gives you a file the buyer can rework; Cuevr, a proposal written from the deal, tracked all the way to signature.

Definition

Quick answer

Word is the right choice when the buyer requires an editable file: a technical response to complete within their template, a text to negotiate with tracked changes. Cuevr is the right choice to get proposals written for each client signed: it qualifies the deal, writes with Cuevr AI, scores the proposal before sending, tracks every reader and gets it signed; it also answers RFPs and tenders, public and private. The two work side by side: Cuevr for the proposals you publish, Word for the files the buyer requires.

What Word does really well

For a document that has to be annotated, negotiated and then returned as a file, Word is built for it.

  • The file the buyer can rework

When the tender documents provide a technical response template to complete, or when the client wants to rework your text, a Word file is filled in and sent back as is. Cuevr hands over a web page or a PDF instead.

  • Tracked changes

Word marks each author’s changes in their color; you accept or reject them one by one or all at once, and a password can prevent tracking from being turned off [5]. The “legal blackline” option shows in a third document what changed between two versions [6].

  • Comments

Discussion threads you mark as resolved once handled; @mentions with email notification, for business customers and files in the cloud [7].

  • Real-time co-authoring

With a Microsoft 365 subscription, everyone sees the others’ presence and changes while they write [4].

  • Templates

A document saved as a template (.dotx) becomes the starting point for the next ones [8].

  • The Microsoft 365 ecosystem

Fully localized interface, English and Spanish included [13]; data stored and processed in the European Union and EFTA for customers enrolled in those countries, with documented exceptions (EU Data Boundary) [14]; Copilot as a paid add-on [9].

Three moments where they differ

The difference is not a feature list: it is the moment of the sale each tool takes care of.

  1. Before sending: know what the client wants

Word starts from a blank page or a template [8]. With the Microsoft 365 Copilot license, a paid add-on, Copilot reads the notes, meetings and files you point it to [9]; Word documents no discovery framework, no list of what is missing, and no reading of the buyer’s documents. Cuevr starts from the deal. The qualification structures the context, needs, project and decision process; Cuevr reads your notes, meeting reports (DOCX, PDF or PPTX) and transcripts, shows where each piece of information comes from, flags what is missing and prepares the script for the next meeting. For an RFP or tender, public or private, Cuevr reads the instructions to bidders or the specifications and extracts the response framework: criteria and weighting, deadline, documents to provide, required outline, format.

  2. When writing: a proposal written for this client

In Word, you write, or Copilot drafts. With the Microsoft 365 Copilot license, a paid add-on, Copilot starts from a prompt, an outline, notes or reference files, draws on your files, emails and meetings, rewrites, changes the tone or turns a passage into a table [9] [10]. Copilot writes from your files, with no qualified deal or approved offer content, and does not score the proposal. Cuevr AI writes from three sources worked together: the deal qualification, the company’s knowledge base and specialized agents designed on the best sales methods. It suggests an outline linked to the client’s stakes, or to the buyer’s numbering for an RFP, then writes the sections you keep. Before sending, Cuevr scores the proposal out of 100 and places its recommendations in the text; for an RFP, a gauge counts the requirements covered. A quality proposal used to take 2 hours; with Cuevr, under 15 minutes.

  3. After sending: know who reads, and get it signed

Sent as an attachment, a Word file does not tell you who read it. Shared from OneDrive or SharePoint, its card shows the readers’ names and the number of views, if the administrator allows it [12]; the documentation says neither whether external readers appear there nor what they read. In the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, signing goes through SharePoint eSignature: simple electronic signature, $2 per request, after linking an Azure subscription and activation by an administrator; an external signer becomes a guest of your Microsoft tenant [1] [2] [3]. Cuevr publishes the proposal as a web page with your branding and freezes the version presented. Each invited reader appears by name, with their reading time section by section and their heat; the dashboard tells you which proposals need action today. The prospect signs where they read, after a six-digit code, and acceptance creates an evidence file linked to the signed version.

On our grid

The eleven criteria of our comparison, scored 0, 1, 3 or 5 on the same levels for everyone. Word is a general-purpose tool, not proposal software: we score it on the same criteria and show its profile, without an average. Word does better than Cuevr on “Build the proposal as a team”: it has comments, which Cuevr does not. Cuevr does better on the other ten criteria.

How we score: the grid measures what a tool brings a sales team to sign more deals with its proposals, not its compliance or its price. Each criterion is scored from observable facts, written down before scoring, the same for Word and for Cuevr. We score the best published offer, add-ons included.

Before you switch tools

Can Cuevr and Word be used together?

Yes. Word keeps the files the buyer requires, contracts negotiated with tracked changes and your internal documents. Cuevr takes the sales proposal, from deal qualification to signature. Your Word meeting reports can be imported into the qualification (DOCX).

Does Cuevr export to Word?

No. Cuevr publishes the proposal as a web page and exports it to PDF through the browser’s print function; it does not produce an editable Word file. When the buyer requires you to fill in their own file, the final submission happens in Word.

Doesn’t Copilot in Word do the same thing?

Copilot writes and rewrites in your document, from a prompt, notes, meetings or reference files, with the Microsoft 365 Copilot license as a paid add-on: it writes from your files, with no qualified deal or approved offer content. Cuevr AI starts from a qualified deal, the knowledge base approved by the company and specialized agents designed on the best sales methods; Cuevr then scores the proposal and places its fixes in the text.

Does Cuevr have e-signature?

Yes, included and unlimited: a simple electronic signature (SES), legally binding. The signer verifies their email with a six-digit code, and each acceptance creates an evidence file linked to the signed version. It is neither advanced nor qualified. In the European Union, it cannot be denied legal effect as evidence solely because it is electronic (eIDAS Regulation, Article 25); in the United States, the ESIGN Act also recognizes it.

Does Cuevr answer public tenders?

Yes, public and private. RFP mode starts from the tender documents you import: it extracts the response framework, suggests an outline following the buyer’s numbering, has Cuevr AI write the sections and counts the requirements covered before submission. Uploading to the buyer’s platform remains up to you.

Where is my data hosted?

Cuevr is hosted in France. Data is kept in the European Union.

How much does Cuevr cost?

€49 excl. VAT per user per month billed annually, €69 excl. VAT billed monthly, one plan, every feature, from one seat. Trial: 14 days, no credit card (5 proposals created, 1 sent).

Method and sources

We compare the two tools on one use only, the proposal or technical response sent to a prospect, keeping the rows where Word does as well or better. Each row answers on the same scale for both tools: never a tick against a nuance. The facts about Word and Microsoft 365 come from Microsoft Support, Microsoft Learn and the published price lists, read on the date shown; a feature seen only in marketing does not count. The facts about Cuevr come from our offer and documentation. The scores apply our editorial grid, the same for every tool; Word, a general-purpose tool, has a profile without an average.
